Can I still add or drop a class? Engineering courses can be added or dropped via WebReg through the end of Week 2. Following Week 2, students must submit a signed add/drop card to the Engineering Student Affairs Office along with a petition explaining the need to add or drop after the deadline. Engineering students adding or dropping non-engineering courses may do so per the policy of school offering the course, but will always need to petition to the Engineering Student Affairs Office following Week 6.
Can my professor sign my add/drop card? In the Henry Samueli School of Engineering, instructors no longer sign Add/Drop cards in order to approve enrollment changes. Through the first two weeks of each academic quarter, a student can add or drop courses through WebReg without contacting either the faculty members teaching the courses or the Student Affairs Office. Following the deadline of Week 2, students should take add/drop cards to the Student Affairs Office for instructor and Associate Dean signature.
How many pass/no pass can I have each quarter? You may have an average of one class per quarter that is pass/no pass. Remember that all courses used to satisfy your degree/major requirements must be taken for a letter grade. This means that only the breadth requirements such as category III, IV, VII may be taken P/NP - all math, science, major related courses must be taken for a letter grade.
If I drop a course, will there be a notation on my transcript? If you receive approval to drop a course after the sixth week, you will receive a 'W' (withdrawal) notation on your transcript. There are no exceptions.
The Henry Samueli School of the Engineering does not ordinarily grant permission for changing grade option in any course after Week 6, however, courses offered in other schools may have an earlier deadline. Students may petition the Student Affairs Office to change after Week 6.
