Summer Multicultural Access to Research Training (SMART)

The University of Colorado at Boulder is inviting students to participate in the Summer Multicultural Access to Research Training (SMART) program. The SMART program is a ten-week research internship in science, math, and engineering and is available each summer. The program provides an introduction to graduate education and hands-on experience in research.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Be members of racial/ethnic groups severely underrepresented in science, math, and engineering, OR be first generation college students who are economically disadvantaged according to the federal guidelines.
  • Have completed their second year of undergraduate study by June 2004.
  • Not have received a bachelor's degree or plan to receive one before December 2004
  • Have sufficient credits in the academic areas to which they apply.
