Mandatory Training and Time Commitments

Spring 2025

New PAA Training: Every Thursday, 5-7 p.m. (yes, all 10 weeks!) Please note, these weekly training hours are paid.
Additional hours (to be determined) reviewing training materials, and shadowing current PAAs and Academic Counselors at Engineering Undergraduate Student Affairs Office.

Summer 2025 (Not required but encouraged for Engineering PAAs)

Support at New Student Orientation (SPOP) sessions.
- We highly recommend that Engineering PAAs focus on an Internship or Research Opportunity during Summer.

Welcome Week 2025

For Engineering: Fall Refresher Training: September. date decided with all Engineering PAA’s input.
General Fall Refresher: Friday, September 19, 2025
Convocation Ushering: Monday, September 22, 2025
Up to 20 hours for Week 0- Welcome Week

Fall 2025, Winter 2026, Spring 2026

Fulfilling PAA duties 10 hours/week, including meeting with students and working on projects as directed by the supervisor.
Participation in all PAA Meetings currently held on Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m. of Weeks 3 and 8 of the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters.
Participation in volunteer and paid PAA hours for Academic Integrity Hearings, Residence Hall Advising, and other services as needed.
For Engineering, PAAs are not expected to work during and after finals week.
- Week 0-10 for Fall 2025 and Week 1-10 for Winter and Spring 2026.

Salary

New Peer Academic Advisors are expected to be paid $16.00/hour for the 2025-2026 academic year, pending budget approval.

Returning Lead Peer Academic Advisors are expected to be paid $17.00/hour for the 2025-2026 academic year, pending budget approval.

Engineering Application Timeline

December – January 17th, 11:59pm – Application open
January 20th – 31st – Applications reviewed
January 31st – Interview Invitations for selected candidates
February 3rd – 21st – Interviews
February 25th – Final selections and notifications
